Personality Bio
KENNY DEES

I was born in Albany, New York in 1960, the 5th of 7 kids. You can imagine all the chaos confusion that happens in a family of this seize. Despite that, one thing that all my brothers and sisters have in common is a love for music. At the age of 6 my sister took me downtown to buy my first 45rpm…The Fantastic Johnny C. “Boogaloo Down Broadway”. This was the start of my record collection.

I continued to collect and enjoy music through high school and after graduating from Colonie High School in 1978 I attended Syracuse University. I began my radio career at campus radio stations WJPZ and WAER. My first professional job was in Albany, New York at a “Big Band” format on WABY. While at Syracuse University I also did part-time shifts at WNDR and WNTQ. After leaving SU I began fulltime at WNTQ. I’ve also done stints at  WYYY and WOLF. By the mid 90’s I was doing smooth jazz at WXCD and WHCD. In 2000 a position became available at WHCD and I’ve remained here to this day where I'm currently assistant program director and music director.

Thanks for the interest and keep listening to Power 106.9 Monday through Saturday from to when you’ll hear me playing all of Today’s R&B and Old Skool!!

Make sure to go out and VOTE
Tuesday 11-04-2008 3:56pm ET
Today is the day we have all been waiting for.  If you haven't already, it is very important that you take the time to go out and cast your vote for the next President of this country.  This particular election has been anything but normal.  Even early voting has jumped to 32% this year, as opposed to 22% in 2004 and 15% in 2008.  Make sure your voice is heard!
Janet feeling much better
Monday 10-27-2008 3:55pm ET
On a Youtube video posted by her boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri, Janet Jackson takes some time to thank her fans for their support during her illness.  Due to recent vertigo-induced migraines, Janet postponed a handful of performances, among them one at the Turning Stone in Syracuse.  Stay tuned to Power 1069 for any updates on whether or not the date has been rescheduled.

I played the song Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now by McFadden and Whitehead. This song has sone great memories for me. Not only was it a great inspirational song, but it was a great song to step to. One of the first step shows I ever saw was put on  by Alpha Phi Alpha on the S. U. campus. I was impressed by the unity and brotherhood that they displayed at Kimmel Dining Hall and the stepping was off the meter!! McFadden and Whitehead's Ain't No
Stoppin' Us Now was the music that they stepped to and the attitude that the Brothers showed that night.
